A professional clean reaches what brushing misses

Why it matters

Even great brushing leaves tartar behind

Plaque forms on your teeth every day. When it is not fully removed, it hardens into tartar, a rough deposit that a toothbrush and floss can no longer lift, especially along the gumline and between teeth.

Left in place, tartar feeds the bacteria that cause cavities, gum inflammation, and bad breath. A professional cleaning removes it, and the exam catches anything starting to go wrong while it is still small.

Tartar hides

It builds where brushing and floss cannot reach, along the gumline and between teeth.

Problems start quietly

Early decay and gum inflammation rarely hurt until they have grown.

Small now, simple now

Caught early, most issues are easy and inexpensive to treat.

Brushing keeps up daily. A cleaning resets the rest.

See what happens at your cleaning

Tap through the stages to see how a professional cleaning removes buildup and leaves your teeth smooth and fresh. Illustrative preview.

Plaque and hardened tartar have collected along the gumline, where brushing and floss cannot fully reach.

A hygienist gently lifts away the tartar with fine instruments, clearing the tooth surfaces and the gumline.

The teeth are polished smooth, removing surface stains and leaving a clean, fresh finish.

Your dentist checks teeth, gums, bite, and jaw and screens for oral cancer, so nothing is missed.

Nothing checked? A routine cleaning every six months is still the best way to keep things that way.

One or two of these is a good sign it is time to book a cleaning and exam.

Several of these together means a visit is worth booking soon. Give us a call and we will get you in.

Prevention first

A partnership, not a substitute

Professional cleanings do what home care cannot, but they work best alongside your daily habits.

Brushing and flossing

Your daily routine clears fresh plaque before it can harden into tartar.

Cleanings and exams

Every six months we remove what builds up and catch small issues early.

Smart snacking

Fewer sugary sips and snacks give bacteria less to feed on between visits.

Tell us what you notice

Bleeding, sensitivity, or a change in your bite is always worth a quick call.

Questions

Cleaning questions, answered

Most visits take about 45 minutes to an hour. Your first visit, or one that needs X-rays, may run a little longer so we can do a full evaluation and talk through your oral health.

Cleanings are usually painless. You may notice light pressure or brief sensitivity near the gumline if there is buildup, but our team uses gentle techniques to keep you comfortable.

For most people, every six months. If you have gum disease or ongoing concerns, we may suggest coming in every three to four months.

That is completely okay, and very common. We start fresh with no judgment, get you clean and comfortable, and build a simple plan from there.

Many PPO plans cover two cleanings and exams a year. Call us and our team will gladly help you check your benefits before your visit.
